# Fictional handbook corpus for a manual retrieval pilot
This is a setup resource, not a running handbook. Every person, rule and document is invented. The role labels describe access you must implement and test in your own app; this public download deliberately contains all synthetic setup data, including the manager-only seed. It is not an access-controlled document.
## Freeze the corpus before running a question
Use R1 first. It has five logical documents: D01 v1, D02 v1, D03 v1, D04 v1 and D05 v1. Keep D01 v2 aside until the update exercise. R2 changes only D01: v2 becomes current and v1 becomes history. There are still five logical documents; this file contains six version snapshots.
Default current-document results include D01, D02 and D04 for staff; managers additionally have D05. D03 is an archive, excluded from default results in both revisions. After the update, D01 v1 is also excluded from default results. If an allowed actor explicitly opens an archived version, label it as superseded and point to the current D01. Never let an archive masquerade as the current answer.
| Role | Current documents in R1 | Current documents in R2 | Explicit archive access |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Staff | D01 v1, D02 v1, D04 v1 | D01 v2, D02 v1, D04 v1 | D03 v1; also D01 v1 in R2, clearly superseded |
| Manager | D01 v1, D02 v1, D04 v1, D05 v1 | D01 v2, D02 v1, D04 v1, D05 v1 | D03 v1; also D01 v1 in R2, clearly superseded |
No supplied document states collection hours or a Sunday policy. A missing answer is not permission or refusal. D04 gives a human next step without inventing the answer or advertising restricted material.
## Version snapshots
Section IDs below are stable within each version. Use the document ID, version and section together when recording evidence. These labels are portable identifiers, not proof your app creates the same URLs.
### D01-v1: Collecting print samples
Allowed roles: staff, manager.
Current in R1; superseded history in R2.
#### collection-location
Collect print samples from the Front desk. Picking up samples uses the same collection point.
#### replaces-old-instructions
The Front desk replaces back-door collection. Do not use the back door for sample pickup.
### D01-v2: Collecting print samples
Allowed roles: staff, manager.
Keep this version out of R1. It becomes current only for R2.
#### collection-location
Collect print samples from the Dispatch counter. Picking up samples uses the same collection point.
#### replaces-old-instructions
The Dispatch counter replaces the Front desk and back-door collection. Do not use the Front desk or back door for sample pickup.
### D02-v1: Returning print samples
Allowed roles: staff, manager.
#### return-shelf
Return print samples to the labelled Sample returns shelf. Attach the sample ID to the return envelope. This return point is separate from the collection point.
### D03-v1: Archived collection instruction
Allowed roles: staff, manager.
Superseded in both revisions; not in default results.
#### superseded-notice
SUPERSEDED. This page is an archive and must not be used as the current collection instruction. Open the current D01 Collecting print samples instead.
#### old-collection-location
Historical instruction: collect print samples at the back door.
### D04-v1: Ask about a missing instruction
Allowed roles: staff, manager.
#### question-owner
If the permitted handbook does not answer your question, ask the studio coordinator. Provide the question and the current document ID and version you checked, if any. Do not infer a rule from missing text.
### D05-v1: Supplier exception notes
Allowed roles: manager.
#### second-sample-set
Manager-only exercise instruction: a manager may approve a second sample set after recording the supplier reference and reason. This invented instruction is not available to the staff role.
## Preserve the baseline
Do not edit the R1 evidence after loading R2. Q6 repeats Q1 against the new location; also rerun Q2–Q5. The supported answers for Q1/Q6, Q2 and Q3 change. The no-answer expectations for Q4 and Q5 do not. The question-owner route stays D04 v1.
