Building apps that find or collect social media profiles

Separate the list your app manages from the outside data source needed to find social profiles.

An app can keep a list of social profiles with fields such as a handle, profile URL, notes and review status. Ask the builder to add the list, filters and a manual entry or import flow that fits your data.

Automatically finding profiles is a separate requirement. Before building it, identify a permitted data source that actually supplies the network, fields and search filters you need. A visible public profile does not establish that an API can search for it or return its follower count.

Check the available Integrations catalog and the selected provider's documentation. A connection with a social network's name does not necessarily include profile discovery, private messages or every account type. Do not promise those actions until the particular connection has returned the required data in a test.

Start with a small sample, record where each result came from and handle unavailable fields explicitly. Saved counts can go stale. Avoid having AI invent missing profiles or statistics to complete a list.

Builder changes and any built-in AI analysis use workspace credits. Outside data services can have separate charges and access requirements.

Build with Overskill, not against it

The single biggest way to get more out of your credits: lean on what Overskill already gives you instead of asking it to rebuild things from scratch. Here's how to spot the difference.

How to ask the AI for changes

Better prompts get better results. The short guide to writing requests the AI nails on the first try.
