Publish your app to Google Play

Turn your OverSkill app into a real Android app on Google Play — published under your own Google account, with your own name and icon.

Early access — Branded Google Play publishing is rolling out now to Studio plans. If you don't see it in your editor yet, contact support and we'll turn it on for your account.

Your OverSkill app already works beautifully on Android phones straight from the browser. When you're ready to go further, you can publish it as a real Android app on Google Play, listed under your own name and icon, that people download the way they download any other app.

This isn't a copy or a rebuild. It's the same app you already built — wrapped in a native Android app so it can live on Google Play, open full-screen with no browser bar, and appear on the home screen like any other app.

What you get

  • Your app, on Google Play — searchable, downloadable, with a real listing and reviews.
  • Under your own Google account — you own the app and the developer account. Your brand is front and center; OverSkill stays invisible.
  • Your icon and splash screen — from a single square image, we generate the complete set of Android launcher icons and a matching branded splash screen.
  • A native, full-screen app — no address bar, no browser chrome. It looks and feels like a real Android app.
  • Sign-in that just works — Google, Apple, and email sign-in all work inside your Android app with no extra setup.

How it compares to the iPhone version

The Android version is quicker to set up than the App Store version:

  • A one-time $25 fee to Google (versus Apple's $99/year), paid directly to Google — you own the account.
  • No lengthy review round-trips. You upload the finished app to your own Google Play account and choose when it goes live.
  • Same branding. The name, icon, and colors you set for iOS carry straight over.

The flow, start to finish

Setup is a short guided wizard — plan on about 10–15 minutes of hands-on work, across three steps:

  1. Google Play — create your Google Play developer account and tick off a short checklist. Google now asks new developers to verify their identity before publishing, so start that early — it can take a few days.
  2. Branding — set your app's name, icon, and colors (shared with your iPhone version if you've set one up).
  3. Build & publish — we build and sign your Android app and hand you the finished file to upload to Google Play.

What OverSkill handles — and what's yours to do

We handle the heavy lifting:

  • Wrapping your web app in the native Android app
  • Generating your full launcher-icon set and splash screen
  • Building and signing the app, and setting up the trust link between your app and your website so it opens full-screen

You handle the parts only you can:

  • Creating your Google Play developer account and verifying your identity (it's your account)
  • Filling out Google's Data safety form (we tell you exactly what to declare)
  • Uploading the finished app file to your Google Play account and choosing when to publish

A note on your app's signing key

When we build your Android app, we create a private signing key just for it and keep it safe for you. This key is what proves future updates really come from you. We always reuse the same key when we rebuild your app, so your updates keep flowing smoothly — you never have to think about it.

Current status

Google Play publishing is in early access, rolling out now to Studio plans. Today you complete a short setup wizard, we build and sign your app, and you upload the finished file to your own Google Play account and choose when it goes live. Fully automated uploads straight to Google Play are on the way as the feature matures.

When automated uploads land, you'll connect OverSkill to your Google Play account by creating a secure service account in Google Cloud and inviting it into your Play Console (Google has retired the old Play Console API access page, so this now runs through Google Cloud). One heads-up for that step: after you grant the service account access, Google can take up to 24 hours to apply the change before uploads work. We'll guide you through it in the wizard when it's available — there's nothing to set up for it today.
