OverSkill includes a built-in checkout that works out of the box, and for almost everyone that is the right choice. Using your own Stripe account instead is a separate, limited path.
Availability — read this first
Bringing your own Stripe account is not yet available to everyone. It is switched on for a small number of accounts, so it is very likely not enabled on yours, and there is no setting you can flip to turn it on yourself. Don't plan a launch around it.
If routing payments through your own Stripe account is a hard requirement for you, contact support and tell us why, rather than hunting for a control that isn't there.
Use the built-in checkout
Start with OverSkill's built-in checkout (see Selling your app). It's faster to set up, you don't need a Stripe account, and it's what the AI builds by default.
What your own Stripe would change, if you had it
People ask for it when they:
- Already use Stripe and want everything in one place
- Want payouts to go directly to their bank (not through OverSkill)
- Need Stripe-specific features (radar, custom invoicing, multi-currency)
What works the same
Whether you use built-in or your own Stripe:
- Customer checkout looks identical
- Subscriptions, one-time payments, refunds all work
- The user experience is the same
What's different with your own Stripe
- Money flow — payments go straight to your Stripe balance, then to your bank
- Reporting — you see everything in your Stripe dashboard alongside any other revenue
- Tax — you handle tax collection (Stripe Tax works automatically if you have it enabled)
- Fees — Stripe charges you their standard 2.9% + 30¢; OverSkill takes no platform fee
Switching back
If your account is one of the few with this enabled and you want to move back to the built-in checkout, contact support and we'll switch it for you. Existing subscriptions migrate over — your customers don't notice a change.
A note on existing subscriptions
If you have active subscribers when you switch payment providers, OverSkill migrates them so they continue billing without interruption. Customers don't get re-charged or asked to re-enter their card.
