I upgraded to Studio and got a cancellation email — did I lose my plan?

No — your upgrade worked. An upgrade replaces your old plan with the new one, so our payments provider (Whop) sends a cancellation notice for the plan you left behind. Here's what changed, what didn't, and what you'll pay next.

Short answer: you didn't lose anything. That email is about the plan you upgraded from, not the one you just bought.

What actually happened

When you upgrade — for example from Starter to Studio — you don't keep two subscriptions. The upgrade works in two steps:

  1. Your new plan starts. It's active on your account the moment the upgrade goes through.
  2. Your old plan is cancelled for you. We cancel the plan you left so it never bills you again.

Step 2 is what triggers the email. Whop, the payments provider that handles Overskill billing, automatically emails you whenever a subscription is cancelled — including this one, which we cancelled on purpose as part of your upgrade. We can't turn that notice off, so instead you get this article and a confirmation email from us saying what it means.

What you keep

  • Your account, your apps, your workspace — untouched.
  • Your credits. Upgrading never takes credits away — your balance only goes up. Your new plan's larger monthly allowance takes over from the old one, and any extra credits you bought separately stay in your account.
  • Your new plan. Open your workspace and check your billing settings if you want to see it in black and white.

What you'll pay

Exactly what the upgrade page showed at checkout — never both plans:

  • The old plan is cancelled, so it won't renew or charge you again.
  • If your upgrade included a free first month, nothing was charged that day. Your new plan's regular price starts on the date the checkout showed — it's also in your confirmation email.
  • You can cancel anytime. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.

But the email says my membership was cancelled…

Right — the membership for your old plan. The wording is Whop's standard cancellation notice, and it doesn't know the cancellation was part of an upgrade. If the email names the plan you upgraded to, or you see a charge you didn't expect, contact support and we'll check your account directly.

Still not sure?

Ask support to confirm what's active on your account — we can see exactly which plan is live and what, if anything, is scheduled to bill. An upgrade never deletes your work or your credits, and we'd rather show you than have you wonder.
