Assay

Assay is the complete working system of a precious metals depository that holds allocated and unallocated bullion for institutional clients - the vault operation that receives bars from accredited refiners, verifies each one against its assay certificate, weighs it to the troy ounce, records its serial number and fineness, allocates it to a named holding or pools it as unallocated credit, proves the whole estate on a bar-by-bar audit, lends metal out on lease, settles transfers between account holders and answers to an auditor for every gramme on the premises.

Thirteen real modules, each a browsable page with real seeded vault data. The BAR REGISTER carries every physical bar held - serial number, refiner brand, metal, gross and fine weight in troy ounces, assayed fineness in parts per thousand, cast year, the shelf and tier it occupies and the client it is allocated to. The ASSAY CERTIFICATE RECORD is the proof of fineness: the assaying laboratory, certificate number, the method used, declared fineness against measured fineness, the deviation in parts per thousand against tolerance, the surveyor who witnessed it and the conforming or re-assay verdict. The CLIENT HOLDINGS LEDGER states what every account owns, allocated or unallocated or segregated, down to the specific bar serials. CHAIN OF CUSTODY AND MOVEMENTS records every time metal moved, with the carrier, the armoured vehicle, the two officers who signed under dual control and the seal numbers applied and verified. VAULT AUDIT AND BAR COUNT holds the periodic proof - bars expected against bars counted, fine ounces expected against weighed, the sample re-weighs and the audit opinion.

The REFINER AND ACCREDITATION REGISTER governs which brands the vault will accept, with Good Delivery status, monitoring sample dates and each refiner's historical assay deviation. THE METAL LEASE AND LENDING BOOK, SETTLEMENT AND TRANSFERS with its aged fails, THE STORAGE FEE AND BILLING LEDGER, INSURANCE AND VALUATION, UNALLOCATED POOL RECONCILIATION with its backing ratio, and SECURITY AND ACCESS CONTROL with its dual-control signatures and time-lock windows complete the vault's view. A CLIENT PORTAL gives an account holder their own fine ounces per metal, their allocated bar serials with each bar's refiner and fineness, their statement and their fees due, and a VAULT DASHBOARD closes the loop.

The signature drawing is the vault elevation plate: one chamber drawn flat-on as a true elevation across a full-width band, four bays of 1,220 mm and six tiers of 406 mm clear ruled as a grid, all 24 gold bars drawn as trapezoids in their registered rack and tier with each serial fragment and fine weight on its own chip, allocated bars drawn solid and unallocated pool bars as outlines, and the one shelf under audit discrepancy ruled in assay gold. Designed in Swiss International Typographic Style crossed with a 1970s Zurich bank annual report - a cool paper white ground, vault steel ink, graphite rules, a strict modular grid and tabular numerals throughout, with a single assay gold reserved strictly for a non-conforming deviation, an aged settlement fail, an audit discrepancy or a pool backing shortfall.
