Belfry
A complete operations platform for a change-ringing society and the tower it looks after — a ring of ten bells hung in a 1783 oak frame with the tenor at twenty-four hundredweight one quarter eighteen pounds, 47 ringing members across three practice nights, 128 peals recorded since 1891 and a district of fourteen affiliated towers. The signature Tower Board carries each bell as a dense row: number, note, weight in hundredweight-quarters-pounds, founder and casting year, diameter, headstock and bearing type, clapper and stay condition, rope length and condition, when it was last quarter-turned, and hard flags for CLAPPER PLAY EXCESSIVE, STAY CRACKED, ROPE END WORN, MUFFLE FITTED and BELL TIED — OUT OF USE. Around it: a member register recording which methods each ringer can ring on which bell and to what standard from rounds and call changes up to Stedman and Surprise Major, who can ring the tenor, and the next step in their progression with who is teaching it; the historic peal and quarter-peal register with method, change count, duration, the full band by bell, the conductor, firsts and tower records and the footnotes as actually written; a practice and service diary with a planned touch list and the band assigned to every bell; the fabric of the 1783 frame pit by pit with quinquennial findings and outstanding repairs; a restoration appeal tracking the founder's tender against funds raised by source and faculty consent stages; the fourteen district towers with ring sizes, practice nights and access arrangements; teaching and recruitment records; and striking-competition results with faults awarded per band. Ringers get their own portal with their progression card, the touches they are down to ring, their peal record and their availability. Set as a Victorian Gothic Revival painted peal board — aged gold leaf on deep oak green, engraved double-rules, hand-authored inline-SVG quatrefoil fleurons and an elevation of the ring drawn to relative bell diameter, with maroon reserved strictly for what is out of use. Zero photography, zero gradients.
