Journeyman
Journeyman is on-the-job training hour tracking and certification progress for a registered apprenticeship program in the skilled trades — electrical, plumbing, HVAC, millwright. A training coordinator at a joint apprenticeship committee uses it to prove every apprentice's path to journeyman, and the hour arithmetic against a required standard is the product: OJT hours logged by work-process category against the federally required minimum, related classroom instruction hours, wage-progression steps earned, employer placements, and signed-off competencies. The design comes from the shop floor rather than the campus — industrial safety signage and the mimeographed hour card on a clipboard. Hazard-stripe rules, punch-card perforation, and hairline-boxed field labels sit on near-black steel; Big Shoulders Display sets the headlines in condensed all-caps and Barlow with tabular figures carries every number, because every number here is a quantity measured against a minimum. Safety yellow does all the signalling and a single oversized ghosted JATC monogram sits behind the hero. It reads as a form that computes, which is exactly what an hour card is. The landing page opens as a live hour card: one row per work-process category showing hours logged against the required minimum and the remaining balance, rolling up to total OJT hours, classroom hours and the current wage step with hours to the next one. Behind it: per-apprentice hour cards with entries awaiting sign-off, the cohort view of everyone's progress against their year, classroom instruction records, the wage-progression ladder, employer placements and rotation history, and a coordinator review queue for approving submitted hours. Remix it for anything where somebody must accumulate a verified quantity against a published standard before they are allowed to advance: registered apprenticeships in any trade, nursing and clinical practicum hours, pilot flight-hour logbooks, CPA and legal experience requirements, teacher certification practicums, CDL and heavy-equipment hour requirements, continuing-education credits, or any licensure board that counts hours and wants them signed.
