Lichen

Lichen is the complete operations platform for a co-operative reindeer-herding district in the arctic north — fourteen member families running roughly 6,400 semi-domesticated animals across four seasonal pasture ranges, from the spring calving grounds through summer coastal highland and the autumn rut to winter lichen pasture. The Herd Board is the working picture of the district: head count by range against carrying capacity, body-condition scoring, collar battery health and the animals currently unaccounted for. Pasture & Lichen is the constraint the whole business runs against — carrying capacity per range, a lichen recovery index, grazing days used against budget, and the rotation schedule that decides when a range has to be rested. Collar Telemetry puts the herd on a drawn range map with collar positions, last-fix age, geofence breach alerts and a fix-interval table, because the range is roadless and the collars are the only eyes on it. The Calving Round tracks the spring marking work: calves marked against estimate, calf-per-cow ratio, marking progress by day and earmark assignment by member family. Autumn Gathering covers the corral separation runs — animals gathered, sorted and tallied back to each family's mark. Predator Loss is the claims desk: lynx, wolverine and golden eagle losses with carcass find coordinates, photographic documentation status and compensation paid against pending, since an undocumented carcass is an unpaid claim. Slaughter Quota reconciles the state quota — allocated per member, delivered, carcass weights and price per kilo. Members & Earmarks holds the fourteen families with their earmark cuts drawn as vector marks, herd share and dues, and Compliance & Reporting carries the annual grazing report and veterinary inspections. A public Visitor Programme booking view fronts the small guided-visit business that runs alongside the herd. Visually Lichen is built in the language of a 1930s WPA screen-printed park poster rather than a dashboard template: a flat five-ink separation of spruce green, bone, ochre, iron blue and a single burnt-orange sun, hard-edged landform shapes with visible ink-registration offset, heavy condensed poster capitals, park-service badge elements, a paper-grain overlay, a monospace telemetry marquee, and drawn poster plates for the seasonal range map, the calf-marking curve and herd composition against capacity. Remix it for any land-management, livestock, conservation or co-operative field-operations business.
