Purfling is the complete operating system for a working violin-maker's and bow-restorer's atelier — the bench, not the brochure. Built in the idiom of the Wiener Werkstatte and the Vienna Secession: a visible square lattice as real ornament, black-and-white chequerboard bands dividing the sections, oversized letterspaced display caps, the square-within-square motif repeated at badge, card-corner and bullet scale, and hard offset drop-shadows set exactly on the grid unit. Every measurement is set in tabular monospace numerals, to the tenth of a millimetre. Behind the sign-in the real product is built out across six screens. The Commission Queue tracks each instrument by number, model and client — a Strad 1715 "Titian", a Guarneri del Gesu 1743, a Montagnana cello — with wood provenance (Bosnian maple, Val di Fiemme spruce, eight-year air-dried), the stage it has reached from mould through ribs, plates, purfling, varnish ground and colour coats to setup, days on the bench and the promised date. The Repair Bench triages incoming work by fault — an open bass-bar seam at 42mm, a soundpost crack in the lower treble bout, a worn nut buzzing on the open G — with estimate, parts awaited and loaner issued. The Instrument Register holds each client's instruments with maker, year, certificate, insurance valuation and a full service-history timeline. The Setup Specification sheet is fully editable and properly tabulated: string length 328mm, stop 195mm, bridge height and thickness, fingerboard scoop, neck projection, post-position offsets, string brand and gauge. The Maker's Journal carries dated bench entries with varnish batch numbers and humidity and temperature readings.
