About this template

Overview

Specie is the note-issue, circulation and currency-operations record of a central bank's currency department — the office that designs, issues, distributes, authenticates, withdraws and destroys the physical money of a country, and must be able to account for every note. The Reserve Bank of Aldermark runs five cash centres and closed the year with 1,184 million notes in circulation worth K52,610 million, having destroyed 214 million unfit pieces across 148 witnessed batches.

This is not a banking app and not a treasury dashboard. It is the department's own annual record, drawn in the idiom of a state statistical yearbook crossed with intaglio security printing — a flat deep ink-green on an oat uncoated-paper ground, drawn lathe-work guilloche rosettes, engraved hairline and double rules, repeated microtext bands as dividers, drop caps, dense ruled statistical tables with decimal-aligned numerals and a footnote apparatus, and a single vermilion held strictly for counterfeit recoveries, unfit percentages over standard and withdrawn series. No navy-and-gold banknote pastiche, no metallic gradients — flat ink on paper.

What it holds

  • Series and denomination register — each denomination by series, face value, substrate (cotton paper or polymer), dimensions, principal colour, portrait and reverse subject, date of first issue, legal tender status and withdrawal date, with specimen plates drawn at true aspect.
  • Security features — per denomination, the full feature set (watermark, security thread, see-through register, intaglio relief, optically variable ink, holographic foil, microtext, ultraviolet elements, tactile marks) with the public check level of look, feel and tilt, and the machine-readable level.
  • Notes in circulation — the circulation ledger by denomination and series, volume and value, year-on-year movement and share of total value, with a drawn denomination ladder.
  • Cash centre operations — each centre by location, vault capacity, notes received and issued per month, processing throughput, machine fleet and availability.
  • Note quality and sorting — sorting results by denomination, the fitness standard applied (soil, tears, holes, limpness, graffiti, tape, missing corner), percent sorted unfit, and the mean lifetime of a note by denomination and substrate.
  • Withdrawal and destruction — unfit notes withdrawn, destruction method, shredding batch reference, the two-officer witness sign-off, the certificate of destruction, and the reconciliation of pieces destroyed against pieces accounted.
  • Counterfeit analysis — counterfeits recovered per million genuine notes by denomination, class of reproduction, which security features were imitated and which were not, and the period trend. Presented strictly as analysis for the record, never as guidance for reproduction.
  • Printing works orders and stock — orders by denomination, quantity, delivery schedule, acceptance testing and strategic stock cover in months.
  • Exchange and reclamation — the public counter for damaged, mutilated and withdrawn notes, each claim by reference, pieces presented, proportion of the note surviving, adjudication and value paid.
  • Issue authority and backing — the statutory note-issue limit, notes issued against it, the backing assets, and the authority under which each issue was made.
  • Commercial bank portal and department dashboard — the real product behind the record: a bank sees its deposits and withdrawals, lodgement scheduling, sorting results on notes it returned, counterfeit submissions and their findings, and orders by denomination against stock; the department sees denominations below stock cover, centres over vault capacity, unfit percentage above standard, counterfeit rate against trend, destruction batches awaiting a second witness, claims awaiting adjudication, and note issue against the statutory limit.

Who it is for

Central banks and currency departments, cash centres and cash-in-transit operators, commercial bank treasury and vault teams, security printers and currency-management consultancies, and any institution that must account for physical instruments from issue to destruction.

Make it yours

Swap the bank, the currency, the denominations and the series for your own; change the fitness standard, the destruction protocol, the reference levels and the statutory limit. The yearbook idiom and the chain of accountability survive the swap.
