Therm

Therm is the operations, metering and billing platform a district heating network operator runs on. Not a smart thermostat and not a home energy monitor — this is the utility itself: a city-centre heat network with an energy centre of two gas CHP engines, three boilers and a thermal store, eleven kilometres of pre-insulated buried flow-and-return mains, and 1,840 dwellings plus 22 commercial customers connected through Heat Interface Units. The signature screen is the distribution schematic: the energy centre and each of its four branch spurs drawn live, every branch carrying flow temperature, return temperature, differential pressure and current load in kilowatts, with the distribution-loss figure derived from heat generated against heat metered. Around it sit the plant register (CHP engines, boilers, thermal store and pumps with run hours, availability, lead/lag sequencing and service dates), the HIU and meter connection register by block and dwelling with return-temperature performance scored against the network's 45C target, a tariff and billing run with standing charge, unit rate, an unbilled and estimated-read exception list and Heat Trust benchmarking, a fault and outage board with priority, SLA clocks, no-heat jobs and compensation liability, the planned preventative maintenance and statutory inspection schedule, and a connections pipeline of new blocks joining the network with heat load assessed against branch capacity headroom. A resident portal gives a connected household its own usage curve, current bill, HIU return performance and a report-no-heat flow. Designed as industrial hazard livery meeting a dot-matrix plant control room — 45-degree chevron hazard banding, stencil-cut condensed capitals, high-visibility amber against asphalt near-black, a cold cyan reserved for return against amber for flow, tabular monospace figures throughout, and a bento-grid fold of unequal tiles rather than a centred hero. Every figure on the page is derived from the seeded operational data, and all imagery is hand-authored inline SVG.
