Troubleshooting when generation fails or stalls

If the first build or a later edit hangs or errors, wait, refresh, retry once, then open help. Do not keep re-sending the same prompt.

Most first builds finish in a few minutes. A later edit is faster. If the funnel never opens, the preview never updates, or the editor shows an error, work this list in order.

The general catch-all is When things go wrong. This article is only generation that fails or never finishes.

1. Wait

A first funnel can take several minutes. A big edit can sit on working for 10–20 seconds while preview rebuilds. Do not resend the same prompt while it is still running — that starts a second spend.

2. Refresh the editor

If nothing has moved for more than a minute after a small edit, or several minutes after a first build, refresh the editor (Cmd+R / Ctrl+R). You are often still in the funnel; the view just stopped updating.

3. Read the error

If the chat shows a build failed, it usually explains why. Ask it to fix that error once. If it loops, stop.

4. Retry once, with a smaller prompt

For a stalled first generation, go back to www.clickfunnels.ai and send the same description once more. For a stalled edit, ask for a smaller change (one page, one headline) instead of rebuild the whole funnel.

5. Roll back a bad edit

If a change landed and broke the funnel, restore the last good version from history rather than stacking more prompts. See Version history and rollbacks.

6. Open help

If it still fails after one retry, use the help icon and open a ticket. Include: what you asked for, about how long it sat, and the name of the funnel. See Getting help in ClickFunnels AI.

Retries after an error can still use credits. See Why errors and retries still use credits.
