Overprint
Overprint is the complete course-planning, event-organisation and split-time analysis platform for an orienteering club and the events it puts on in forest and urban terrain. It is not a running club app and not a generic race-timing product: it is the software a planner, a controller, an organiser and a results team actually work in, and it is built around the printed map and the magenta course overprint that is laid over it. The signature screen is the course plan. A hand-authored map plate is drawn to the IOF ISOM specification — brown index and form contours at a 5-metre interval, white runnable forest, open land in two tones of yellow, fight-vegetation in three densities of green, marsh and lake in blue with a bank line, black rock, boulders, crags, paths, tracks, a road and a fence, and magnetic-north lines running the whole plate — and over it goes the course itself in magenta: a triangle start, numbered circles gapped where they would hide the feature they mark, leg lines gapped at each circle, and a double-circle finish. Beside the plate sits the control list and the leg table, each leg carrying its length in metres, its climb, the route-choice character it offers and the planner's note; select a control and its circle and its two legs light on the plate. The other signature screen is splits analysis. For a chosen class the full leg-by-leg grid puts every runner on a row and every leg in a column, each cell carrying the leg time and its rank on that leg, the leg winner highlighted, and a computed time loss against a superman split — so a runner can see precisely which leg lost them the race rather than guessing from a finishing position. Around those two: the IOF control-description sheet drawn as the real eight-column pictogram grid with every symbol hand-drawn and glossed in plain English for members still learning to read them; a control-sites register holding every physical site in the club's terrain bank with its code, feature, grid reference, last visit, the events that have used it and whether the stake is still in place; the start-list draw across ten classes onto start blocks at a fixed interval with club-mate separation and punching-start entrants; results and adjudication with mispunch, DNF, DNS and disqualification each carrying the decision and the rule cited, plus a protest log and the jury's finding; the season's fixtures with their level, terrain, land-access permission per landowner, forestry agreement reference and the stalking and nesting windows that close a map; the electronic punching kit by serial number with battery voltage, last service and map print runs; and a runner portal where a member sees their own SI-card, their entries and start times, their results history and their own time-loss legs called out. Designed in the idiom of IOF orienteering cartography crossed with 1970s Scandinavian sports-club silkscreen: the true ISOM colour separation used as the whole interface palette, a single magenta reserved strictly for the overprint and live state exactly as it works on a real map, hairline keyline rule work, registration crosses at the plate corners and magnetic-north lines run through the section backgrounds. Every piece of imagery is hand-authored inline SVG; there is not a photograph in it.
