About this template
Tideway is the complete working system of an open-water and cold-water swimming federation - the body that registers its affiliated clubs, grades every swimmer through an acclimatisation and distance ladder before letting them into open water, publishes the tide windows a swim may legally run in, samples the bathing water at every sanctioned entry point, licenses the safety boats and the pilots who crew them, rosters water safety cover for each event, times the swim itself, records every immersion and the temperature it was swum in, and runs the cold-water incident register.
Fourteen real modules, each a browsable page with real seeded data. The CLUB AND MEMBER REGISTER carries every affiliated body with its reach, its officers, its insurance expiry and its governance return. The SWIMMER GRADING LADDER is the gate on entering open water - acclimatisation sessions logged against the water temperature of each, the pool distance assessment, supervised open-water hours, the cold-water tolerance assessment at six degrees and below, and the five grades from NOVICE to PILOTED CHANNEL with what each one permits. The TIDE WINDOW AND REACH SCHEDULE states when a swim may legally run: the tidal range, high and low water, the slack-water window either side, the maximum permitted stream in knots, and whether the window is OPEN, MARGINAL or CLOSED with the limiting factor named. BATHING WATER QUALITY holds the Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci counts against their classification limits, the rainfall in the preceding forty-eight hours and every storm overflow discharge logged upstream.
SAFETY CRAFT AND PILOT LICENSING, the EVENT SAFETY ROSTER, SANCTIONED SWIMS AND RESULTS, the IMMERSION AND TEMPERATURE LOG, the COLD-WATER INCIDENT REGISTER, COACH AND LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION, REACH INFRASTRUCTURE and the AFFILIATION AND FEES LEDGER complete the federation's view. A SWIMMER PORTAL shows a swimmer their grade, the reaches it permits and the next open window on each, and a FEDERATION DASHBOARD closes the loop.
The signature drawing is the tide curve and swim window plate: the full twenty-four-hour tidal curve ruled across a chart plate with both high waters and both low waters marked and timed on their own chips, the four slack-water windows ruled as vertical bands, the day's five sanctioned swims drawn as bars at their real start times and durations on their own lanes, the stream in knots plotted beneath against a 2.4-knot permitted limit, and the one swim that starts outside slack water struck in lifebuoy orange and called out by reference. Designed in British Admiralty hydrographic chart engraving crossed with a 1930s seaside lido enamel travel poster: a pale chart buff ground, deep Admiralty navy ink, chart slate hairlines, and a single lifebuoy orange reserved strictly for a closed tide window, a bathing water point classified POOR, an expired craft inspection or pilot qualification, an under-crewed roster, an immersion past the temperature guidance or an open incident recommendation.
