Vest

The complete selection, eligibility and representation record of a national federation's selection secretariat — the office that decides who wears the national vest, and the authority on who was eligible to be considered at all, who was considered, who was picked, by which panel, against which published criterion, and what happened on appeal. The signature Selection Criteria module is the published policy itself set out event by event: the automatic qualifying standard with its exact mark and the window inside which it must be achieved, the number of places available and the maximum any nation may enter, the world-ranking route that stands as an alternative to the standard, the discretionary limb and the factors the panel may lawfully weigh, the trials policy and whether the trials winner is selected as of right, the criteria version with its publication date, and every amendment with the date it took effect. Beneath it sits the Eligibility File, the question that precedes selection entirely: passport nationality and the date it was acquired, place of birth, parental and grandparental qualification, continuous-residence months accrued against the threshold, prior senior representation for another nation with its date, the three-year stand-down running from that date with the days remaining counted down, the transfer-of-allegiance application and the international federation's decision with its reference, dual-nationality declarations signed, age-grade documents each marked SEEN, CERTIFIED or OUTSTANDING, and hard flags for NOT ELIGIBLE, STAND-DOWN RUNNING, ALLEGIANCE APPLICATION PENDING and DOCUMENT OUTSTANDING. Behind those: the athlete register carrying discipline and event group, club and region, age grade, coach of record, pathway tier and total caps; the performance record holding every ratified mark inside the ranking window with its wind reading against the legality limit, the meet and its permit status, the timing method, the ratification state with wind-assisted and unpermitted marks rejected on the face of the record, and each athlete's marks drawn as a stepped trace across the window against a ruled scale; selection meetings minuted as the panel actually sits, with members present and absent, the quorum, conflicts of interest declared and the member who withdrew and for which athlete, the events taken in order, the vote recorded place by place and the minute set out in numbered paragraphs; the squad announcement with selected athletes, travelling and non-travelling reserves in order, the embargo until which the squad is confidential, each athlete's acceptance or declination, late withdrawals and the reserve called up in consequence; non-selection and appeals holding the reason given to each athlete in writing, the appeal lodged and whether it was in time, the grounds relied on, the independent tribunal's members, the determination and the remedy ordered; funding awards with the level set against performance bands, the services attached, the review date and de-selection on notice; camps and call-ups with attendance recorded session by session, since attendance is itself a discretionary selection factor; fitness to compete with the screening date and its validity, the practitioner's prognosis and the fitness-to-travel declaration; and accreditation, kit and travel with the vest number issued to each athlete, accreditation status, and passport expiry checked against the six-month rule for the destination. Athletes get their own portal showing which criterion they are measured against, their ratified marks and their position on the list, any stand-down remaining, their selection status and their appeal. Drawn entirely in the idiom of the Swiss International Style athletics results annual crossed with the state sports-institute performance dossier of 1968 to 1984: a cold pale steel-grey card ground, near-black graphite ink, one oxidised signal red reserved strictly for NOT ELIGIBLE, STAND-DOWN RUNNING and appeals upheld, one flat olive reserved for SELECTED and RATIFIED, a ruthless modular bento grid of hard-ruled plates each carrying its own section number and a drawn stepped calibration bar, printed registration crop marks, dense results tables in tabular lining numerals ruled with horizontal hairlines and no vertical borders, and ultra-wide grotesk numerals sitting hard on a thick rule. Both fold figures close as exact partitions of their stated totals and the ranking plate's plotted marks are countable from the drawing. Zero photography, zero gradients — all imagery is hand-drawn inline SVG.
